Driving experience & mentoring

A supported path towards your licence.

Getting a licence can be difficult when support is hard to find. Road Ready helps young people in Yarrabilba and Logan Village build supervised driving experience with a mentor alongside them.

The programme is for eligible young people aged 16–24 who face barriers to getting a licence. Learners and prospective volunteer mentors can express their interest online.

Facing a barrier

Road Ready is designed for young people who need support to progress towards a licence.

Your next steps

Begin with a conversation.

An expression of interest helps you make contact. A place and the support available will depend on the programme's assessment and capacity.

  1. Express your interest

Visit the Road Ready application site and choose the appropriate learner or mentor enquiry route.

  2. Talk with the team

Ask about eligibility, current places and the information needed for your application.

  3. Discuss a practical plan

If the programme is a fit, the team can explain the available support and the arrangements for taking part.

Someone alongside you

Experience behind the wheel. Encouragement along the way.

Road Ready brings supervised driving and mentoring together, helping learners take practical steps towards greater independence.

For a young person learning to drive, having someone to practise with can make the next step feel more manageable. Talk with the programme team about the support that is right for your situation.

The programme's October 2025 launch update introduced Lenny, a dedicated learner vehicle funded by Community Bank Logan Village, and acknowledged support from Queensland Government Community Road Safety Grants.

For prospective mentors

Your experience could help someone move forward.

Interested in becoming a volunteer driving mentor? Use the same Road Ready expression-of-interest site to ask about the role, time commitment, training and screening requirements before deciding whether it is right for you.

Before you apply

A few useful questions.

The Road Ready team can explain the current programme arrangements.

Does an expression of interest guarantee a place?

No. It is the first step in an enquiry. Participation depends on eligibility, assessment and the programme's available places.

How many lessons or supervised hours are included?

Ask the team what support is currently available. This page does not promise a fixed lesson allowance or a set number of supervised hours.

Are there any costs or documents to prepare?

Check directly with the team about current costs, licence requirements and documents before making arrangements.

Can a family member help me enquire?

A family member can contact 5FOLD with general questions. Ask the programme team how the young person should take part in the application process.

Programme information checked 7 October 2026. Please confirm current availability and arrangements with 5FOLD.
